Eoin Colfer chose edun LIVE for the "fowlisfair"
t-shirts because from the actual African cotton they source, to
the spinning and knitting process, all the way to the
manufacturer, the t-shirts are 100% African - or to quote edun LIVE's
slogan "grower-to-sewer African." He is delighted to support
this unique business venture and acknowledges edun LIVE's appeal to a wide market through high-volume sales of
a simple product that everyone loves - the basic t-shirt.
The aim of edun LIVE is to support factories
in impoverished regions of Africa with orders for t-shirts. The
logo is printed on the inside of every shirt to remind you of
the local communities who are benefiting from your purchase.
Organic cotton farming leads to less environmental damage and
decreased human health risk. Organic farming also leads to some
wonderful by-products such as: sunflower oil and seeds (as you
plant sunflowers between rows of cotton to attract away certain
insects) and honey (because bees and beehives also kill certain
pests). Further, since there is high demand for organic cotton
right now, farmers can command a premium if growing organically.
edun LIVE organic cotton is
certified by the internationally recognized institution, ECOCERT.
ECOCERT is recognized in Europe, USA and Japan and is accredited
in these regions by:
COFRAC -Comité Français
d'Accréditation- the French Committee for Accreditation,
USDA for NOP (National Organic Program)
NAPP for JAS (Japan Agricultural Standard)
edun LIVE
ensures that every individual involved in the value chain
benefits from the purchase of each edun LIVE blank t-shirt. This
means that everyone from the farmer to the factory worker is
given fair pay for his or her contribution and the partner
factories producing the t-shirts are held to very high
environmental and social standards.
